There’s another proposal out for a town of Pomfret solar farm.

The “Pomfret III PV, LLC” project would put a relatively small power generating array – less than 1 megawatt – at 4825 Webster Road. The Pomfret Town Board briefly discussed the plan at its August monthly meeting.

The physical size of the farm was not stated, but Pomfret Town Supervisor Dan Pacos said it should not be an issue. He said that it would be set far from the road and out of sight from any neighbors.

The site is just past the intersection with Farel Road, on the south side of Webster.

Pacos said he had submitted the solar farm plans to Code Enforcement Officer Warren Kelly for review, and Kelly had no issues with them.

Town Attorney Jeffrey Passafaro told the town board that it must do a resolution to name itself lead agency for a State Environmental Quality Review of the proposal. The board did so.

Passafaro also noted a public hearing on the plan must get scheduled. That’s set for Sept. 11 at 6:15 p.m., prior to the town board’s next regularly scheduled meeting.

The firm behind the plans reportedly intends to attend the board’s September meeting so it can explain and discuss them.
