Florida Atlantic University football players got the opportunity to play as themselves and teammates during FAU’s launch party for the EA Sports game.
Is College Football 25 so popular it broke the EA Sports server? Not quite, but the servers are down for the popular college football game. And it’s added to the early problems players have found in the first days of the game’s release.
The College Football 25 servers were down at 6 a.m. ET Wednesday, July 17 for maintenance. The Orlando-based company announced the move the previous night.
Down Detector, which tracks outages and service errors, showed a spike in reports of EA outages at 7 a.m., and while that has died down, reported issues spiked again before 10:30 a.m.
College Football 25 is the first new college football video game since NCAA Football 14 more than a decade ago. Fans who preordered the game have found problems playing it, from overloaded servers making online play difficult to “Lorem Ipsum” filler text showing up instead of actual options in Dynasty Mode, Ultimate Team and more.

EA Help has updates on all of its servers. As of 11 a.m., the College Football 25 server was the only one reported to be down.

EA Help gave tips for signing into your EA account before starting Dynasty Mode. Press R2 on the PS5 or RT on the Xbox Series X|S to sign in.
Users on Reddit suggest disabling the internet connection to disconnect from online play. The modes apparently still work offline.
However, as many frustrated users wrote on social media, one of the top draws of the game was the ability to play against your friends and other college football fans. So EA’s early struggles remain frustrating.
College Football 25 release date: When is the game out?
EA Sports College Football 25 is available to play now if you preordered. For everyone else, the game will be available Friday, July 19.
College Football 25 is available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is not available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
College Football 25 price: How much does the game cost?
The standard version of the game is $69.99. The deluxe and MVP editions are still available via preorder through Thursday, July 18. The deluxe edition costs $99.99, and the MVP bundle, which includes Madden NFL 25, costs $149.99.
