Bruce A. Van Valkenburg, 61, of Cassadaga, NY, passed Monday Aug. 19, 2024 at home after being stricken with a heart attack. Bruce was born Sept. 1, 1962, son of John and Emma (Meadows) Van Valkenburg. He was raised in Fredonia, NY, attended Forestville schools and was a graduate Forestville High, class of 1980. Bruce, a skilled forklift operator, worked at Cliffstar for 30 years, Berry Plastics, until it closed, and the last several years at Regal Warehousing Services in Jamestown.

He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed attending heavy metal music concerts. He loved both dogs and cats. Above all, he was a loving father to his two daughters, Lily Mae and Ruby Rose and a loving husband to his wife Julie.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julie M. (Baker) Van Valkenburg; two daughters Lily Mae, and Ruby Rose Van Valkenburg; his sister Brenda (Randy) Baron of Fredonia; two nephews Dale (Kate) Van Valkenburg, and Brandon Baron; a niece Theresa (Scott) Thompson, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, Bruce is predeceased by his a brother, Dale Van Valkenburg Sr.

Visitation will be held at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, Friday from 5-7 pm, where a funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Lake Shore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
