Mathias (Matt) and Diane Gorges from Boswell, Okla., announce the engagement of their daughter Cabrina Rae Gorges to Kevin Aaron Rogers of Forestville.

The bride-to-be is granddaughter of the late William “Will” and Rita Gorges of Witchita, Kan., and the late Lawrence and Edna Mae Girrens also of Witchita.

The prospective groom is the son of John and Aimee Rogers II of Forestville. He is the grandson of the late Dr. John and Joan Rogers and Twila Rogers of Tonawanda and the late John Galucki of Tonawanda and the late Sr. Eleanor Galucki of Saint Mary of the Angels in Williamsville.

The bride-to-be is a 2020 graduate of Christendom College, Front Royal Va., where she received her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. She is employed as a third grade teacher at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC School in Vienna, Va.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Erie Community College with an Associate degree in Applied Science. He is employed at Larry Romance and Sons in Sheridan as a Diesel Technician. Rogers also is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves, Niagara Falls Air Force Base, Niagara Falls, and will be leaving immediately for deployment to Kuwait for six months.

Their story began in the spring of 2023, when, unbeknownst to them, they met at an “arranged” event to see Rogers’ niece’s ballet performance in Virginia. The mastermind behind the meeting was his oldest brother who realized the two lovebirds had much in common, they just didn’t know it. His brother worked with Cabrina so he knew them both very well. Both were homeschooled, both loved their catholic faith, both were raised on a farm, both belonged to 4-H and they both came from larger families. The plan worked, and they began a long distant relationship that developed into a very good friendship. One year later, the big question was asked.

To show their humorous and loving relationship, Kevin proposed to Cabrina on April Fools day, April 1, 2024, with a huge red candy ring at the Willow Creek Winery in Sheridan, and amazingly she said yes. He then presented her with the real ring, however, unknown to him the box was upside down, so all she saw was an empty box! April fool number two! He turned the box around to reveal to her the real deal, a beautiful diamond ring. That was no joke this time.

They plan to get married on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 at St Rose of Lima RC Church, in Forestville, with Cabrina’s Uncle, Fr Bernard Gorges, from St Joseph’s RC Church in Mount Hope, Kan., officiating and Fr Dan Fiebelkorn from Our Lady Of Mount Carmel RC Church in Silver Creek, concelebrating.
