Chevy Chase is coming to Tampa in December to chat at a ‘Christmas Vacation’ screening

Here’s an event that’s sweeter than a year’s membership to the jelly of the month club: Comedian and actor Chevy Chase is coming to the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 1.

Tickets go on sale Friday.

Chase will share anecdotes about the 1989 film “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” which will be screened after the conversation. The film is one of the favorites in the “Vacation” series, in which Chase plays family patriarch Clark Griswold. Some of his antics in “Christmas Vacation” include a slapstick battle with lighting and decorations, the unexpected arrival of Cousin Eddie and crew, and a bitter disappointment regarding his company bonus.

He will also take questions from the audience, so put your thinking caps on now.

Chase broke onto the scene in 1975 as an original cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” where his Weekend Update feature became a staple of the show that continues today. He went on to star in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” movie franchise.

In his long list of movie credits, Chase was also memorable in the title role of comedy thrillers “Fletch” and “Fletch Lives.” He also starred in the television sitcom “Community” from 2009-2015.

If you go to A Conversation with Chevy Chase

Tickets start at $40 and go on sale at 10 a.m. on July 12 at strazcenter.org or by calling the box office at 813-229-7827.
