Colorado’s 10 highest-rated players in College Football 25

The king of college football video games is back. EA Sports College Football 25 will be released on Friday, and the Colorado Buffaloes are front and center with Travis Hunter being one of the cover athletes on the standard and deluxe versions of the game.

Fans of the video game series have waited 11 years for a new version, with NCAA Football 14 representing the last release before CFB 25. This year’s game will be the first to have real player names, thanks to the advancement of NIL (name, image and likeness), and if you’re anything like me, checking the player ratings for your favorite team will be one of the first things you do. Fanbases will now have a new topic to discuss, as ratings between teams and players will rile up social media in the coming days.

Below are the 10 highest-rated Colorado players in EA Sports College Football 25:

Punter Mark Vassett

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 84

Mark Vassett should be booming kicks in the thin air of Boulder with an 89 in kick power, but his ability to pin opponents deep is reflected in his receiving the coffin corner physical trait.

Safety Preston Hodge

Brian Bishop-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 84

Though he worked as a cornerback in the spring, Preston Hodge was listed as a strong safety at launch. You can work him at either spot with his 85 in man coverage and 84 in zone coverage.

Wide receiver LaJohntay Wester

Syndication: Asbury Park Press

Overall rating: 84

Expect to run a lot of four wide receiver sets with the Buffs, with LaJohntay Wester being the first in a quartet of WRs who are all 84 or higher. Wester has high catching and physical traits, including an 87 in catching and a 93+ in speed, agility, acceleration and change of direction.

Wide receiver Will Sheppard

Matt Pendleton/Gainesville Sun

Overall rating: 84

Will Sheppard will be your wide receiver of choice when in the red zone or when trying to squeeze it into tight areas. The big-bodied receiver sports an 89 in catching and an 88 in catch in traffic.

Guard Justin Mayers

Overall rating: 84

Justin Mayers is a huge reason the Buffs have more confidence in their offensive line. The UTEP transfer sports an 85 in run-blocking and an 87 in pass-blocking.

Defensive end Dayon Hayes

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 85

The Buffs’ top defensive lineman, Dayon Hayes should be a great weapon against the run and pass. He has an 85+ in pursuit, play recognition, block shedding, power moves, hit power and tackling.

Wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.

John Leyba-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 85

A burner on the outside, Jimmy Horn Jr. sports a 94 in speed backed up by a 96 in acceleration. But it isn’t just about speed with Horn, as his 87 in catching will ensure he brings the ball in.

Safety Shilo Sanders

Andrew Wevers-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 86

Colorado’s enforcer in the defensive backfield, Shilo Sanders is sure to cause a fumble or two in CFB 25 thanks to his 87 in hit power. He can play the pass just as well, sporting an 87 in zone coverage.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Overall rating: 93

Tied for the top rating among quarterbacks in CFB 25, Shedeur Sanders’ spot as one of the best players in the country was confirmed by EA Sports. Players can carve teams up thanks to Sanders’ 96 short accuracy ratings. But don’t sleep on him as a runner, as he also boasts 80 speed and 85 acceleration.

Cornerback/Wide receiver Travis Hunter

Overall rating: 95

Whether you like to play offense or defense in CFB 25, you will see No. 12 on the field for the Buffs. Travis Hunter exploded onto the Power Four stage last season with his two-way ability, which is well reflected in the game. The projected first-round NFL draft pick is rated 95 at wide receiver and 93 at cornerback.
