The stakes were raised yet again across all four game categories as the Esports World Cup in Riyadh rolled on. Another two League of Legends clubs were eliminated today, while the Dota 2 matches started to pick up steam.

We also unveiled the 14 finalists for COD: Warzone in what proved to be an incredibly eventful day!

League of Legends

The second day of LoL action featured 2 Quarter-Finals, narrowing the field of competition down to 4.

It was the first game that provided the biggest shock of the tournament so far, as Gen.G were toppled in 2-0 fashion by an in-form Top Esports.

G2 took the stage next to face up against FlyQuest and managed to stave off another upset after suffering defeat on the first map. The reverse sweep was completed with maps 2 and 3 both going in favour of G2, due in part to a well-rounded effort across the board from all athletes.

Dota 2

In Dota 2, the play-in stage saw more action than yesterday, with some of the more dominant clubs really putting their foot down.

However, things didn’t go to plan for everyone, as beastcoast defeated a struggling G2.i2 and Aurora lost to PSG Quest.

There were significantly fewer draws on day 2 as well, with the results from the other 10 matches being detailed below:

Blacklist International 2 – 0 LGD Gaming

Entity Esports 2 – 0 beastcoast

Entity Esports 2 – 0 LGD Gaming

Blacklist International 2 – 0 Virtus.pro

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

It was time for clubs from Group C to prove themselves today, with 2 progressing to the Quarter-Finals and the remaining two being sent home.

Liquid Echo managed to top the group flawlessly, finishing 3-0, while HomeBois also solidified themselves a spot in the next stage of the Mid Season Cup.

On the other end of things, Team Spirit and Twisted Minds were eliminated, having their keys crushed before bowing out of the tournament.

Call of Duty: Warzone

Last up was COD: Warzone as we set the stage for tomorrow’s final. NaVi managed to steer themselves to safety in today’s set of matches, finishing in third place with a total of 150.50 points. Team Vitality also managed to secure a spot in the finals, ending their group stage campaign in 13th.

The other twelve clubs that will be competing for the trophy tomorrow, in order of group stage standings, are Team Falcons, Team abWizz, FNATIC, Twisted Minds, Team xizx7, Guild Esports, SGP Syndicate, Team Heretics, Team Izund, New Icons, Team Destroy, and OMiT.

Be sure to tune back in tomorrow as we etch the first names onto the Esports World Cup 2024 totem!
