FAN VOTE: SouthCoast High School Sports Team of the 2023-24 School Year

The 2023-24 school year was a successful one for SouthCoast high school sports. 

Not only did two teams — Wareham boys basketball and Fairhaven football — win state championships, a third — Old Rochester boys basketball — reached the state finals and two more — Apponequet baseball and softball — made it to the state semifinals.

Five other teams had perfect regular seasons.

SPRING SPORTS

Apponequet baseball

The Lakers reached the state semifinals for just the second time in school history.

Apponequet boys tennis

Not only did the Lakers complete a perfect regular season, they reached the Div. 3 Elite 8.

Apponequet softball

Apponequet made it to the state semifinals for the first time in 25 years.

New Bedford boys volleyball

The Whalers had their first undefeated regular season since 2007. 

Old Rochester girls tennis

The Bulldogs capped off a perfect regular season by reaching the Div. 3 Elite 8. 

WINTER SPORTS

Old Rochester boys basketball

The Bulldogs reached the state championship game for the first time in nine years. 

Wareham boys basketball

The veteran Vikings captured their second straight Div. 4 state championship by beating rival Bourne in the title game. 

YOUTH BASEBALL: After reaching the Cal Ripken World Series last summer, Free-Lake baseball repeats as state champions

FALL SPORTS

Bishop Stang golf

After having a perfect regular season and winning their fourth straight South Sectional title, the Spartans finished second in Div. 2 states by two points to Dover-Sherborn. 

Dartmouth field hockey

After going undefeated during the regular season, Dartmouth reached the Div. 2 Elite 8. 

Fairhaven football

The Blue Devils captured the Div. 6 state championship by beating Salem in the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium. It was the fourth Super Bowl win in Fairhaven’s history and the first since 2000.
