When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

According to a recent press release, Amazon’s 2024 Prime Day event starts on Tuesday, July 16 at 12:01 AM PDT on and runs for 48 hours through Wednesday, July 17.

Prime Day originally started as a summer savings event to celebrate Amazon’s birthday, which launched in July 2015. Due to the pandemic, the retailer pushed Prime Day 2020 to October and then moved back to the summer months the following years. In addition to summer Prime Day, the retailer has recently offered an additional two-day sale in the fall.

What is Prime Day on Amazon?

Prime Day is a members-only, global savings event that falls over a two-day period. You must be an Amazon Prime member to enjoy the deals but if you’re not, there’s still time to sign up for a 30-day free trial.

Amazon Prime Day 2024 will be offered in multiple countries including the U.S., Austria, Japan, China, Belgium, Egypt, France, Germany, India, the United Kingdom and Singapore — to name a few!

During the big sale event, shoppers can get a chance to score discounts across categories including beauty, tech, home, fashion and more. In previous years, we saw impressive deals on bestselling products, from Apple AirPod Pros to Alexa devices to customer-favorite beauty must-haves, such as the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. We’ve even seen items that were as high as 65% off (if not more!).

How much is Amazon Prime?

A monthly Prime membership costs $14.99 a month, but you can also purchase an annual membership for $139, which ultimately saves you a few dollars a month. Additionally, college students can get a Prime Student membership for only $7.49 per month or $69 per year. That’s not all, those with qualified government assistance can also receive a Prime membership for just $6.99 after their free 30-day trial.

What are the benefits of a Prime Membership?

The Prime membership includes access to Prime Video, which offers tons of movies and hit Amazon TV shows. Also, you can enjoy Amazon music, reading and gaming.

Good news for book lovers. Now through July 31, Amazon is offering a special three-month free trial of Audible. The premium membership includes access to thousands of bestselling audiobooks, Audible original series and podcasts.

According to Amazon, the retailer is offering Prime members “the best deal ever” for those new to Amazon Music. You can score unlimited music for five months free. The platform has hundreds of millions of songs, podcasts and more, which are all ad-free.

You can also score deals on groceries and food delivery. The retailer recently announced an update to GrubHub+, which they say allows Prime members to now enjoy a free GrubHub+ subscription on an ongoing basis, with the ability to order GrubHub straight from Amazon.com or the app.

Previously, the GrubHub+ subscription was offered for just the first year of a Prime membership, and those who wished to keep the service had to pay after that. This delivery service perk allows you to order from your favorite takeout spots with zero delivery fees, low service fees and it even includes special restaurant offers. And if you choose to do pick-up, you can receive a 5% credit back, says the retailer.

Another way to save on groceries is at Whole Foods Market. Amazon Prime offers Amazon Fresh, where select regions can get fast one to two-hour delivery on select groceries. And that’s not all, you can receive discounts on your prescriptions through RxPass, access to lightning deals, Try Before You Buy, and more.

These are just a few benefits, you can learn more about the Prime membership here.

How to find the best Prime Day deals?

If you want to save big during the next Prime Day, here’s how you can get started during the event, according to the retailer:

  • You will need to sign up for an Amazon Prime account.
  • Download the Amazon Prime app and allow notifications.
  • By setting up alerts via the Amazon Prime app, you will receive personalized push notifications about updates on your recently viewed items and items saved to your cart throughout the event.
  • You can even lean on Alexa: The device will notify you of deals on anything in your cart, wish list or “saved for later” section up to 24 hours before they’re available. You can ask, “Alexa, what are my notifications” to learn more about the sales you’re interested in and even have Alexa buy something for you once the deal goes live. You can also tell your device, “Alexa, remind me when Prime Day starts,” so you’re ready to shop the moment the sale starts.

To save even more before the big sales event, Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program can help you get up to 15% off five or more products. There are thousands of items eligible for the subscription service — from pet food to beauty items to groceries and more — and there’s no fee to get started. Just select a quantity and schedule your delivery — and you can cancel any time! Although we recommend getting a membership to access future Prime Day deals, it’s not a requirement to start subscriptions.

Amazon has already dropped early deals for you to shop ahead of next week. From Apple AirPods for $69 to bestselling Alexa devices, we’re rounding up some impressive deals that you can shop right now — starting at $8.
