PVCS names Boys State, Girls State reps

SOUTH DAYTON — Two juniors from Pine Valley Jr./Sr. High School were selected as representatives for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State that was held this summer.

South Dayton American Legion Post 1593 and its Auxiliary choose and sponsor students for these prestigious programs every year. They are picked based on academic accomplishment, club/activity involvement, leadership, sports, and community service.

— Noah Hardy, son of Gary and Janet Hardy, is also a student at WNY P-TECH in Dunkirk and represented Pine Valley at SUNY Morrisville State College.

— Serafina Joyce, daughter of Kenneth and Nikcole Joyce of South Dayton, represented Pine Valley at SUNY Brockport.

American Legion Boys State is a program of government instruction where each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county, and state government.

LA Empire Girls State, a program of the American Legion Auxiliary, believes youth should be offered a better perspective of the practical operation of government and that the individual is an integral part and commensurably responsible for the character and success of her government.
