Scottie Scheffler entered the final day of golf competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics with work to earn a medal.
He entered the fourth and final round at Le Golf National in a tie for sixth place following the third round, in which he shot 4-under par for the round with six birdies and two bogeys. Scheffler left no doubt on Sunday, shooting 9-under on the day, including 6-under on the back 9, to finish at 19-under for his first Olympic appearance and win the gold medal.
Scheffler ended his day with a par-shot on the par-4 18th hole and was tied with Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood when he finished his day. Fleetwood bogeyed the 17th hole and needed a birdie on the 18th, which he did not get, giving Scheffler his victory.

Scheffler has been the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer and has continued to show off his skill. He birdied his first three holes on the front nine but then finished with six straight pars. But he regained his early momentum on the back half, as he had six overall birdies on the back nine, including four consecutive birdies between the 14th and 17th holes. France’s Victor Perez had the second-best shooting day on Sunday’s final round, shooting an 8-under 63 for the final round.

What did Scottie Scheffler shoot today at the Olympics?
Scheffler shot a 62 on the day, going 9-under to help himself medal in his first Olympic appearance. Scheffler started his round with three straight birdies, finishing the day with nine total. He had four straight birdies between the 14th and 17th holes to move himself up the leaderboard late.
