SILVER CREEK — Right before the 2024-25 school year began, the Silver Creek Board of Education approved a four-year contract extension between the District and the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) through the 2027-2028 school year.

As part of the new agreement, all CSEA employees will receive an increase of 2.4% to their 2023-2024 wage. Effective July 1, 2026, employees will receive an increase of 3.25% over their 2025-2026 hourly rate. The following year, the same 3.25% increase will be applied to an employee’s 2026-2027 hourly wage.

Employees with more than five years of service to the District will also receive a one-time base wage adjustment, up to an additional $1 for an employee of 18 years or more with the District.

The agreement also states that second shift employees receive a 60-cent raise to the employee’s regular hourly rate. Any unused vacation time for employees who depart from the District for nondisciplinary reasons will be bought out at the hourly rate, including the prorated vacation time accrued during the fiscal year in which the separation from the District occurs.

The Board of Education also approved the abolishment of three 10-month Cleaner positions, and instead, created three 12-month Cleaner positions. The three positions were filled by Jennifer Diakakis, Hannah Dieke, and Francel Inglut.

Three other hirings were approved at the recent meeting.

Amber Strychalski was granted a provisional appointment as a 12-month Clerk II; Dawn Seekings was appointed to the probationary position of Bus Monitor; and Ashlynn Powers was appointed to the probationary position of Lunch Monitor. All three hires will receive a wage of $16 per hour.

The Board of Education also approved Amanda Santiago as a Certified Substitute Teacher. Coaches approved by the Board include Cliff Golembieski, Varsity Football Assistant; Jacob Lewis, Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach; Matt Tomasik, Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach; and Johnny Burlett, Varsity Boys Soccer Assistant. The Board also approved volunteer coaches Manuel Sanchez, Football, and Paul Bock, Cross Country.

While many new faces are joining the District, three notable resignations were also accepted by the Board of Education at its recent meeting. Sheila Casper resigned from her role as Long-term Substitute Spanish Teacher to accept a position at another District, effective immediately. Elementary Music Teacher Cassandra Koch will resign from the District, effective Sept. 20. Finally, High School Music Teacher Phillip McMullen resigned from his role, conditionally, effective Oct. 3. McMullen anticipates employment approval by the Rochester School of the Arts. His resignation date will be adjusted if the vacancy can be filled at a sooner date.

The District also finalized the 2024-2025 Tax Warrant. The approved budget is $31,326,466, with a total levy of $6,344,616.34. The delinquency free period concludes Oct. 4, with a penalty of 2% applied for any delinquent taxpayers.

The District’s 2024-2025 School Safety Plan was also approved. The full document is available online.
