Kindergartners visit Flowers By Anthony.

Students PAX Behavior was on full display while venturing out into the community. They impressed workers at each establishment with their listening ears, quiet voices, PAX hands and keeping their eyes on adults when they were speaking.

“The PAX program is centered around developing strategies that support students in areas of self-management, specifically with developing Peace, Productivity, Health, and Happiness.” Pax learning is used in daily routines and is a beneficial tool to our students in the district. On their first adventure, students were given a tour of Flowers By Anthony. They had a blast in the cooler, learned how to care for flowers and were able to make their own bouquets to take home.

Before heading out on their second adventure to One Stop, each student was given dollar bills to pay for their special treat. It was their responsibility to hold on to the money, until it was time to pay. They walked the streets in a PAX line and learned how to check for oncoming traffic before crossing.

Class members also took a trip to Rick’s One Stop.

Once inside, students had many opportunities to practice the essence of patience. Each student waited in line and used a bold 3-foot PAX voice to: order their ice cream on their own and ask the cashier how much they owed. Using math skills that they learned throughout the year, students were able to independently count out their money and pay.

“We are so lucky to live in a community that enjoys helping our kiddos learn and grow,” the district noted. “Special thanks to Flowers By Anthony and Rick’s One Stop for their kindness and generosity and to our Summer School Principals, Mrs. Penhollow and Mrs. Russell for allowing our students to expand their learning beyond the school setting.”
