Texas A&M baseball vs Florida live scores: Aggies look to advance to CWS championship series

Texas A&M baseball is just one victory from playing in the College World Series championship series.

The No. 3 overall Aggies will take on SEC rival Florida in the nightcap of a triple-header of the CWS from Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, with a chance to make the championship series for the championship series appearance in program history. Texas A&M would set the program record for wins with three with one more victory in the CWS.

Wednesday’s semifinal will be a rematch of the opener of the CWS for both the Aggies and Gators. Texas A&M defeated the Gators 3-2, aided by a home run robbery of Florida’s Cade Kurland by Texas A&M right fielder Jace LaViolette. LaViolette is a game-time decision following a hamstring injury during the sixth inning vs. Kentucky.

The Aggies also have a 5-1 victory over Kentucky so far during the CWS, marking their best record and second semifinal appearance in the double-elimination tournament. The Gators would need to beat Texas A&M Wednesday night and again Thursday to advance to the best-of-three-game championship series.

Florida kept its season alive with an elimination victory over NC State on Monday and another one Wednesday morning against Kentucky. The Gators ― led by Jac Cagliagone and his 35 home runs ― are 8-1 in elimination games after making the tournament as one of the final teams in the field of 64.

The Aggies lead the all-time series between the two programs 17-14. Texas A&M is 2-2 against Florida this year, losing two out of three games during the regular season in Gainesville. This game will mark the second-ever meeting between the teams in the NCAA postseason.
