The 2024 Little League World Series has been a breeze so far for the Texas team. Now, Boerne Little League will be facing off with Paseo Verde Little League out of Henderson, Nevada.

Boerne LL handily won their opening match vs. Pennsylvania 9-0, of the Mid-Atlantic Region, and followed it up with a 4-1 over Florida, the Southeast Region champions. Meanwhile, Nevada, of the Mountain Region, defeated New York, the Metro Region champions, before scraping out a 3-2 win Monday over a talented Hawai’i team.

The winner of Wednesday’s game qualifies for the U.S. final, two wins away from the Little League World Series title. Texas has not won a LLWS title since 1966.

2:51 p.m.: Guffey begins the second with a groundout then the first walk of the day. Nevada records another base hit as Guffey can’t get a short, shallow hit to first base in time. The Texas pitcher then allows a run with two consecutive walks. Boerne proceeds to pull Guffey, putting Kaleb Christ onto the mound. The pitcher gets a strikeout but another infield hit by Nevada ties the game. A flyout ends the inning 2-2.

2:56 p.m.: Texas’ offense leaves the field after eight pitches, with a strikeout and two flyouts ending the inning in a flash.

3:15 p.m.: Gary Steubing gets a hit for Boerne on a pop up that falls in the shallow outfield. A bunt advances Steubing to second after a throw by the Nevada catcher is just off. Another hit falls into the right field and an errant throw allows Steubing to score, making the game 3-2 Texas. Collins gets his second hit of the day, driving home Burke and putting runners on second and third. Hastings hits another sacrifice fly to make the game 5-2. A flyout ends the inning with Texas in the drivers seat.

3:20 p.m.: A much smoother inning on defense for the Southwest Region champions. A hit by pitch gave Nevada a base runner, but Hastings was able to handle the other three batters for an uneventful frame.

3:30 p.m.: Noah Letalu takes over on the mound for the Mountain Region champions in the bottom of the 4th. Mogford gets another hit with a slow roller toward third base that isn’t corralled in time. Guffey makes it to first on fielder’s choice retires Mogford. Nevada’s defense handles the next two hitters to make it to the 5th.

3:35 p.m.: Three up for Nevada and three down, as Boerne’s stellar defense makes quick work of some infield hits.

3:47 p.m.: Hastings begins the final frame by inducing a fly ball for the first out. On a 2-2 count vs. Erickson, the pitcher gets a called strike three for the second out. Nevada sends a weak groundball to Matthews and his throw to first ends the game 5-2.
